Staffordshire Dyslexia School Earns Prestigious UNICEF UK Rights Respecting Schools Bronze Award

A specialist dyslexia school in Staffordshire has been awarded the prestigious UNICEF UK

Rights Respecting Schools Bronze Award.

Maple Hayes Hall School’s accomplishment represents the culmination of dedicated work

from the entire school community and officially recognises the institution as a ‘Rights

Committed School.’

The Rights Respecting Schools Award (RRSA) is a programme established by UNICEF UK

that acknowledges schools that have successfully integrated the principles of the UN

Convention on the Rights of the Child into their daily practices and overall ethos. By

achieving this Bronze Award, Maple Hayes Hall School has demonstrated a commitment to

ensuring that the rights of every child are both respected and championed.

Headteacher David Lowe said: "This achievement would not have been possible without the

exceptional leadership of Miss Churchill and Mr Taylor, who have guided the school through

this transformative journey with passion and dedication. Their commitment to embedding

children’s rights into the school culture has been truly inspirational.

“The enthusiastic participation of the pupils has been equally significant, as they have

embraced the principles of the RRSA with enthusiasm. Through various projects,

discussions, and activities, the students have not only learned about their rights but have

also become advocates for the rights of children everywhere.”

Mr Lowe added that achieving the Bronze Award was just the beginning of the school’s

rights respecting journey, and that they were already looking ahead to the next steps on their

path towards Silver and ultimately Gold status.
